  5. Sharee Burton says

The tour for Syrie James brought me by this blog, but I coming back to check out the literary aspect…especially the poetry.

  6. Sabrina Joy says

This will be an interesting read for sure! It’s different from a biography. It’s a story, and this will really do well with understanding Jane as a person, not just as an author.

  7. I also fell in love with Pride and Prejudice by seeing the movie first. After that I couldn’t get to much Austen.

  9. Jane Austen is an author I admire so much, her stories have made me
laugh and cry. To read a story by a modern day author with Jane as the
subject is such a wonderful tribute to her.

  10. Jane Austen’s books were the beginning of my love of historical romances. Do you have any favorites among the authors of today’s historical romances?

  11. Amazing post and amazing giveaways! I love it how Jane’s novels are inspiring people as well as tellings and retellings even a lot of years later :3 I hope I am lucky enough to win some of these adorable prizes xD Thanks so much for the giveaways and the chances to win :3

What a fun interview and great giveaway! I have The Lost MEmoirs of JAne Austen but haven’t found the time to read it yet.

  13. Susan Lynch says

My mother introduced me to Jane Austen at the age of 13 in the early 1960’s and I visit my friend every year to renew my acquaintance. Her books are old friends and I am an avid reader and there are many books once read I do not read again. I look forward to reading Jane Austen’s First Love.

  14. Michelle Fidler says

I have lots of Austenesque books. I haven’t read any of your books yet, but maybe sometime I will. I first got into Austen due to the movies, as well. I think it was the P & P movie with Keira Knightley that really made me a fan. Back in 2008 there were some Austen movies on P.B.S., most of them new ones. So that’s the year when I got turned onto Austen.

  15. Interesting interview, I was really courious about the reserches behind the book.

  28. Jean Patton says

Enjoyed the interview, thank you for the great giveaway.

  29. That was a great interview. I also read and enjoyed Jane Austen’s First Love (in fact, my stop on the blog tour is Nov 28). I’m particularly eager to read the scene in which young Jane explains those three suitors names in the parish registry. One of the real tidbits of her written record that must have a terrific backstory!

    • Syrie James says

I had great fun writing that scene. Here’s hoping that it finds the perfect “home” soon!

  30. Stephanie M says

Syrie James is a new author for me, but I’m always looking for more authors to take me further into Jane Austen. I can’t wait to read this book.

  31. Deborah Fortin says

I thoroughly enjoyed the interview and reading the book. Thank you for the generous giveaway.

  32. Jo's Daughter says

What a lovely interview, I too return to the world of Jane Austen for all those reasons 😀 The clothes, the dancing, the hairstyles… It’s all fabulous!

  33. My first introduction to Jane Austen was the 1940 P&P film starring Laurence Olivier and Greer Garson. It was broadcast one Sunday afternoon in the mid 60s when I was 11 and was in my first year secondary school. I checked the book out of the school library the next day. Though it has many flaws, I still have a soft spot for that film because without it, I may never have discovered her work, as my class/year never studied any of her novels in English Literature classes.

Jane Austen’s First Love is a wonderful read. Anyone hesitating about getting it should hesitate no longer!

Thanks for such a generous giveaway, Syrie, especially as it includes us international folk.

    • Syrie James says

Thanks, Anji. I’m so glad that you loved Jane Austen’s First Love. I have found that everyone’s favorite P&P film is the first one they ever saw–because the story is so wonderful that it captured their heart, and it introduced them to Jane!

      • Syrie, I can’t say that 1940 is my favourite version but I do think very fondly of it for the reasons given. Like many others, 1995 will take some beating for me, if anyone can pluck up the courage to try it. I’m not counting the forthcoming P&P&Z, by the way!

  34. Paige Murray says

Love, love, love Syrie James and all her works! Thanks for the awesome interview and giveaway!

  35. Great interview and great giveaway!

  36. Deleted scenes! No, no, don’t leave those unread. Please post them somewhere – I would love to read them.

  37. I’m a big Jane Austen fan. My first love is Pride and Prejudice. Next, is Sense & Sensibility. This is a great looking giveaway.

  38. Pride and Prejudice is the best well known novel of Jane Austen. The next book that is my favorite is Emma. This is just so full of wit and humor.

  39. Susan M. Heim says

What a delightful interview! I would love to take that tour to England. Could you make that the prize for the next giveaway? 😉

  40. A fascinating interview and wonderful giveaway. This book sounds memorable and very special.

  41. Great interview! I love everything about Jane Austen’s time as well. I would love to take a tour of all the places she lived and visited. I hope that you will use your deleted scenes in the future, I think you have a great way with writing Jane. I look forward to your next book. Thank you for the great giveaway!

  42. Allison Sullivan says

Would love to win! Thanks for the great interview.

  43. What a great interview and giveaway! I’d love to read her novel about Jane Austen’s first love. Thanks for the chance!

    • Syrie James says

Hi Amanda! Jane Austen’s First Love is not included in the prize packages–several of my other books are, however, plus many wonderful Austenesque goodies. I do hope you’ll grab a copy of Jane Austen’s First Love and let me know what you think!

  44. Fabulous interview. I enjoyed Secret Diaries and Lost Memoirs and look forward to this book! I like finding out how others came to love all things Jane Austen.

  45. Luisa Baudino says

Just love how Syrie James enjoys researching Jane Austen world and never tires of it! I’ve never read anything by her, hope to do it soon 🙂

  46. Vesper Meikle says

Unlike Syrie I was already a fan of Jane Austen before I saw any of movies (from reading P&P at school) – my favourite the 1980 mini-series of Pride and Prejudice, so much better than the 1995 series which I now find un-watchable unfortunately.

  47. Jenna Sauber says

Thus far, I have avoided most Austen fan fiction, and stuck to my guns as a Janeite/purist. I just read Austenland (to be honest – not great), but I do enjoy reading interviews like this and hearing other perspectives on Austen’s life, books, and fan fiction. I think I’m starting to warm to the idea of exploring it more! P&P is my favorite, too, of course, with Mansfield Park a close second. The prize package looks amazing!

  48. Kelly Youngblood says

What a prize package! Congratulations on your newest book! I look forward to reading it!
    Blessings!
