  1. I’ve loved the few Allende books I’ve read so I’m glad that you liked this one 🙂

  2. I love the analogy of the fog of San Francisco and how it obscures the characters until the author is ready to reveal them!

  3. I like your description of how Allende peels back the layers of each character to show their depth. Sounds like there are a lot to these characters!

Thanks for being on the tour Serena.

  4. I didn’t know there was any controversy. Still, I don’t think it’s for me. Glad you liked it though.

  5. All I’ve really read about this book is the controversy over Allende’s comments about mysteries so I’m glad to see you liked it.

    • I really don’t care about that controversy. Perhaps she changed her mind about mysteries once she started writing one…I think that perhaps she found mysteries that she was reading were to formulaic…too quickly written…and I can think of some of those disappointing mysteries myself. Whether she said she would never write one or not, I don’t know but I think people are entitled to change their minds.
