Welcome to the 290th Virtual Poetry Circle!
Remember, this is just for fun and is not meant to be stressful.
Keep in mind what Molly Peacock’s book suggested.
Look at a line, a stanza, sentences, and images; describe what you like or don’t like; and offer an opinion. If you missed my review of her book, check it out here.
Today’s poem is from Walt Whitman, read by Langston Ward:
A March in the Ranks Hard-Prest, and the Road Unknown
What do you think?
Walt Whitman’s war poetry is some of my favorites. I tend not to like his other poems as much
A very powerful poem, beautifully read by this student! These lines describe and capture the deep terror and toll of war on troops.
I’m not a big fan of Whitman, but I like this poem, as hard as it was to read. I could picture it all in my head. Very powerful.
I hadn’t heard of this writer before. Interesting choice of poem today!
