158th Virtual Poetry Circle

Welcome to the 158th Virtual Poetry Circle!

Remember, this is just for fun and is not meant to be stressful.

Keep in mind what Molly Peacock’s books suggested. Look at a line, a stanza, sentences, and images; describe what you like or don’t like; and offer an opinion. If you missed my review of her book, check it out here.

Also, sign up for the 2012 Fearless Poetry Reading Challenge because its simple; you only need to read 1 book of poetry. Please visit the stops on the 2012 National Poetry Month Blog Tour.

Today’s poem is from Joshua Beckman:

They'll Spend the Summer

They'll spend the summer
crushing the garden--
a steam let off slowly.

What do you think?

  • The only think I could think of when reading this poem was how my sister and I would trample all over my mom’s flowers when we were younger, running carefree through the backyard. LOL

  • I just want to do the April thing because here’s how I feel about whole books. My experience has been that it usually ends up being like whole albums. You love one or two tracks but the rest don’t do it for you. But you can sign me up for April for sure! I even know who I want to do! :–) (gaaah, is it almost April already?!!!)

    • I think there are whole books that work really well cohesively, Jill, but there are some poems that I like better than others. However, I like to collect albums/books to see the whole artist’s vision for their work.

I will post a sign up closer to April 2013….for the blog tour and I hope you’ll at least join me for a read-a-long of poetry in September.
