Everything Austen Challenge Is Back

Stephanie’s Written Word has resurrected the Everything Austen Challenge for another go around.  The challenge runs from July 1, 2010 through January 1, 2011.  Check out last year’s list of Austen reads.

All you have to do to join is pick 6 Austen-themed things, which can be books, movies, crafts, etc.

I know what you are saying; I’ve already signed up to do the Jane Austen Challenge 2010.  Check out my selections for that challenge.  I haven’t finished it yet, but I have time (until Dec. 31) and books from Everything Austen can count for the other challenge.  Is that enough incentive?  For me, it is.

Here’s my list of books for this challenge, though it is subject to change due to my mood:

1.  To Conquer Mr. Darcy by Abigail Reynolds

2.  Emma and the Vampires by Wayne Josephson

3.  Persuasion by Jane Austen

4.  Love & Friendship by Jane Austen

5.  Mr. Darcy’s Little Sister by C. Allyn Pierson

6.  Mr. Darcy’s Obsession by Abigail Reynolds

  • LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP and THREE SISTERS each had such a unique Jane Austen voice. I loved them *because* they were so different. I enjoy reading other Challengers’ book lists – gives me ideas.

  • Your list looks very promising! I’m trying to work my way through the last 4 Austen books I have yet to read. Have fun and I’m anxious to read your thoughts on the Austen spinoffs.

    • I love a lot of the spinoffs I’ve read, but not all of them are great.

  • Good luck with the challenge Serena! I haven’t been doing good on the ones I already have – I’m steering clear of more.

    • That’s what I said too, but this one should be an easy one for me. Let’s hope.

  • Persuasion is wonderful! Have a great time with this challenge.

    • I really need to get back to Persuasion. I started it some time ago.

  • I’m always afraid to make a commitment for challenges! Last year I “did” several challenges but didn’t sign up for them, and somehow that made it seem like less pressure. On the other hand, it took away the fun of the group interaction and the prizes! I did look hard at this one though, and suspect I’ll be doing it one way or another!

    • I really enjoy the Everything Austen challenge because it is so flexible with movies, etc. That’s probably why I joined again, though I have a few challenges I’m failing at!

  • Have fun! I’m going to sign up, too, but I just have to figure out what I want to read for it.

    • I pretty much remembered which Austenesque books I have to review and put them on the list!
