Mailbox Monday #81

If you haven’t voted for your favorite National Poetry Month Blog Tour post, go on over and vote now.

Marcia at The Printed Page and Kristi of The Story Siren both sponsor memes in which bloggers share what books they’ve received in the past week.  I’m going to continue calling these Mailbox Mondays, but The Story Siren also has In My Mailbox.  Just be warned that these posts can increase your TBR piles and wish lists.

Here’s what I received in the mail:

1.  Little Women and Werewolves by Louisa May Alcott and Porter Grand for review from LibraryThing Early Reviewers.

2.  Raven Stole the Moon by Garth Stein for review. Don’t forget my giveaway for a Raven Red Umbrella.

3.  The Looking House by Fred Marchant for review from Graywolf Press, but I have a copy signed by the poet and will be offering this copy as a win for the National Poetry Month giveaway; so go vote.

Books from the library sale:

4.  Poems from Guantanamo: The Detainees Speak by Marc Falkoff, from which I featured a poem in the 44th Virtual Poetry Circle.

5.  Stiff by Mary Roach

6.  The Greatest Generation Speaks by Tom Brokaw

7.  1914-18 in Poetry by E.L. Black, which I picked up for the National Poetry Month giveaway.

8.  Twelve Moons by Mary Oliver

9.  Native American Songs and Poems by Brian Swann, which I picked up for the National Poetry Month giveaway.

10.  Fishing the Sloe-Black River by Colum McCann, which I picked up since reading The Great World Spin.

11.  The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

12.  Anne Frank:  The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

13.  My Life in France by Julia Child

What did you get in your mailbox? I think these library sales are dangerous…don’t you?

  • I’ve got the Greatest Generation books on my shelf and really want to find some time to read them. I loved My Life in France! Lots of great books there!

  • ooh, i read ‘stiff’ a few years ago and it was quite an eye-opening experience. the cover caught my eye and i’m a sucker for non-fiction. it was quite educational but some parts aren’t for the squeamish or faint of heart. 🙂 you had a great haul this week. enjoy!

    • It’s funny because Stiff has been on my to-read/want list for some time. It was fortuitous that I saw it at the library sale!

  • Sounds like you had a great book week. I hope you enjoy them!

    • I agree that you should read Anne Frank someday soon.

  • I think I’m jealous. I went to a book sale a few weeks ago and came home with four. I need to shut up; I AM trying to winnow down my TBR pile a bit. But I can still be jealous, right?

    • I have the same problem, trust me. Should I be buying books at the library sale, probably not.

  • Library sales are dangerous but they are fun and it is a good cause (or so I tell my husband). Great mailbox! Enjoy all your new treasures!

    Happy Reading!

    My mailbox is HERE.

  • Little Women is one of my most re-read books so I’m curious about the new ones with the werewolves and the recent one with the vampires. Not too sure if I’m going to read it or not though.

  • I won Raven Stole the Moon – I need to read it soon. I never get tired of The Great Gatsby. Enjoy all your books!

  • You made out like a bandit at the library sale. Sorry I missed it. I haven’t done a Mailbox post in a couple of weeks, what with all that’s been going on, but I really haven’t received too many books.

    • You mean you won’t be listing your goodies that I know you’ve received???! For shame holding out on everyone! 🙂

      • I have a TLC tour today, so no. I’ll probably include them in next week’s.

        • WAH :(( You making me sad…o wait I know what books they are! 🙂
