324th Virtual Poetry Circle

Welcome to the 324th Virtual Poetry Circle!

Remember, this is just for fun and is not meant to be stressful.

Keep in mind what Molly Peacock’s book suggested.

Look at a line, a stanza, sentences, and images; describe what you like or don’t like; and offer an opinion. If you missed my review of her book, check it out here.

This poem is from Emily Dickinson:

I'm Nobody! Who Are You?
Are you – Nobody – too?
Then there’s a pair of us!
Don’t tell! they’d advertise – you know!

How dreary – to be – Somebody!
How public – like a Frog –
To tell one’s name – the livelong June –
To an admiring Bog!

What do you think?

I agree with your interpretation. Sometimes her poems are a bit cryptic, though.

  2. I’m not sure I’m understanding this poem; is it saying that it’s good to be anonymous and/or unrecognized?
