I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this collection. Not that I thought I wouldn’t like it, but poetry can be hit and miss with me. I loved every poem Sweta put in the book.
I’m so glad that you loved Sweta’s work. She’s very passionate about women’s rights and more.
Great review! Thanks for bringing this collection to my attention. It sounds fantastic.
It is!
The plight and position of widows is still very bleak. Most Asian cultures it is so engrained that they are unlucky, that they themselves will not present themselves or come forward for any auspicious function.
The cultural norms are ever-present here in the poems, and Sweta takes great care with these ladies’ stories.
Serena, you are right: these poems speak the bare truth. I enjoyed reading your thoughts and look forward to posting my review of this new collection very soon as part of the tour. Thank you for inviting me to participate. 🙂
Thanks, Suko. I’m looking forward to your review and those of the others.
