Silver Lining to the Sookie Stackhouse Reading Challenge Failure

Although Beth Fish Reads‘  Sookie Stackhouse Reading Challenge officially ends today and I’ve only read 3 books, I’m going to make a deadline extension for myself.

I’m in the midst of reading book 4 in the series, and because I am enjoying the books and time simply slipped too quickly for this challenge, I’m extending my personal deadline through Dec. 31, 2010.

So I vow to finish up this series by the end of the year, and start by completing book 4, Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris.

These are the ones I have left in the series, which I plan to finish this year:

  1. Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris
  2. Definitely Dead by Charlaine Harris
  3. All Together Dead by Charlaine Harris
  4. From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris
  5. Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris
  6. Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris

What challenges have you finished or are you struggling with?

Comments

  1. I should join you Serena. I really wanted to read this series- even have all the books – just didn’t get to it. I still really want to read them though.

  2. I need to think about extending some deadlines for myself! I was doing so well with my challenges but now I seem to have stalled on most of them. I think it’s time I re-assess some of my reading goals for the year!

    Good luck finishing your challenges!

    • I definitely won’t be signing up for this many challenges again. I have another challenge fail post coming up!

  3. I like how you extended the deadline for yourself…I think I fall under your extension 😀 I’m on book 2….I so blew this challenge!

  4. I’m probably struggling with every challenge I’ve started this year except the graphic novels challenge! I’ve never thought of giving myself a deadline extension. I usually either don’t bother once a challenge is over or just read on my own and forget about the challenge. Happy reading!

    • I usually only give myself an extension on challenges if I really am enjoying the books and want to read more for the challenge.

  5. That is A LOT of reading so I don’t fault you for giving yourself an extension. Also, I’m also up to book four and isn’t it the bees knees? Any book that’s all Eric, all the time, is automatically my favorite.

  6. Way to persevere Serena! The challenge that I totally bombed was the Random Reading Challenge…I will be publicly admitting failure to that one in the next week or so! lol lol I just cannot have randomness in my life I have decided.

  7. This was one of two challenges that I let myself join this past year, and I failed even more than you did – I haven’t read the first book yet! I have no excuse, either, because I went out and bought the boxed set of the first 7 novels, plus I bought the audio, too. I really should start on it – it sounds like such a great series.

    • I simply ran out of time with the other obligations I had throughout the 12-month period. I really just blame my overzealousness with signing up for all those crazy challenges.

  8. I love this idea! I managed to read seven of the books during this challenge, but books 8 and 9 are still sitting in the TBR pile, and I don’t even own the tenth book yet. I’m planning on finishing the series this year as well.

    • I’m glad to see that I’m not alone in wanting to finish up this series. I hope you get your hands on that final book. I’ve got a ways to go before I get there.

  9. I commend you. Deadline or not, I call this a WIN!

  10. Good for you! You’ll probably enjoy them more this way! I totally bombed the challenge.

  11. Sorry to hear you didn’t officially complete the challenge, but I think you have a great attitude about it. Have fun reading the rest of the books!

  12. I’m glad you’re going to finish – these books are just too cute to miss, in my opinion!

    • I think I really just took on too many challenges this time around. So I’m bound to fail some of them. I do want to finish reading this series though.
